ICE BATH

Ice baths, or cold water immersion, have been used to promote recovery and reduce muscle soreness, although the scientific evidence on their effectiveness is mixed.

Cold water immersion not only has physical effects but also impacts the nervous system. It stimulates the part of the nervous system responsible for relaxation and enhances feelings of well-being. Additionally, it activates the part of the nervous system that regulates the stress response, potentially dampening this response with regular practice.

Researchers have found that cold water immersion increases blood concentrations of dopamine, a "happy hormone," and repeated immersions may improve insulin response, activate brown fat for better blood sugar control, and potentially aid in weight loss. However, further research is needed to fully establish these effects.
